Namma Metro Goes Fully Digital: QR-Based Unlimited Travel Passes Explained

1-day ₹250 · 3-day ₹550 · 5-day ₹850

Bengaluru’s metro just went phone-first. From 15 January 2026, BMRCL rolled out mobile QR-based unlimited travel passes — so you can tap through the gates without ever touching a physical smart card.

How the new QR passes work

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) now offers one-day, three-day and five-day unlimited travel passes as scannable QR codes inside the official Namma Metro mobile app. You buy the pass on your phone, generate the QR, and scan it at the gate — no queue, no recharge counter, no plastic card.

For tourists, weekend explorers and daily commuters alike, this is the simplest Namma Metro has ever been to use.

QR pass prices: which one saves you money?

A one-day pass is priced at ₹250, a three-day pass at ₹550, and a five-day pass at ₹850. If you ride the metro both ways on busy corridors, the multi-day passes quickly pay for themselves versus buying single tickets each trip.

The five-day pass, at ₹170 per day of unlimited travel, is the strongest value for regular commuters who don’t already hold a long-term smart card.

Why this is a big deal for Bengaluru

QR ticketing removes the two biggest friction points of metro travel: standing in line to recharge, and remembering to carry a card. Everything now lives on your phone, which also opens the door to richer features — trip history, rewards and instant top-ups.

It’s exactly the kind of seamless, digital-first experience that companion apps like NammaConnect are built to make even smoother.
