Blue Line Delays: HSR Layout, Bellandur & Doddanekundi Stations Pushed to December 2026

HSR · Bellandur · Doddanekundi

Not every metro milestone is arriving on schedule. Several Blue Line stations that commuters were counting on for June 2026 have quietly slipped to the end of the year — a familiar frustration for Bengaluru’s metro watchers.

Which stations are delayed

A cluster of Blue Line stations originally targeted for a June 2026 opening are now expected around December 2026. Among them are HSR Layout, Bellandur and Doddanekundi — all on the busy ORR stretch where commuter demand is highest.

These stations sit in neighbourhoods packed with tech offices and residential growth, which is exactly why the six-month delay stings for daily travellers.

Why metro deadlines slip

Large elevated corridors depend on a long chain of dependencies — viaduct completion, track-laying, electrification, signalling, station finishing and mandatory safety inspections before any line can carry passengers. A holdup in any one of these can push opening dates by months.

For the ORR stretch specifically, the volume of construction and the density of surrounding traffic make the work especially complex.

What commuters should expect

The realistic read: the Silk Board–KR Pura section is still on track to open in phases through late 2026, but individual stations like HSR Layout may light up a little later than the headline corridor date.

The upside is that these are delays, not cancellations — and when the stations do open, they’ll connect some of Bengaluru’s most congested job hubs to the wider metro network.
